Our Story
We are so thankful you have crossed paths with us. Let me take you back to where this dream started and how it became a reality.
Bushel and a Peck was inspired by a long life dream of mine + our late Grandfather, Pops. Even though he has gone to be with Jesus, his rendition of “Bushel and a Peck” lives on through our family and children. We have videos of him singing his version, and it’s videos I will always cherish.
In the Spring of 2005, I graduated high school and started my first “real” job in retail. As I went through college, I continued to work in retail trying to decide if I wanted to go the business route or teaching route. They were both a dream of mine, but as anything in life… I had to make a choice. I chose to continue my education in teaching.
I graduated with a teaching degree at the worst time. Everyone was graduating with a teaching degree, but no one was retiring. I continued to work in retail and was subbing at different schools. Fast forward several years and I met my now husband. He encouraged me to go back and try to find a job. I found one, “retired” from retail, and focused on my teaching job and starting a family. The dream of owning my own store never left my mind, but knew it was just not the right time.
In 2022, I left a school I had worked at for several years and started working at my alumni school where my three kids will soon attend. I am so happy here, but still dreaming of owning a store. During Christmas break of 2023 I pitched the idea to my husband and he was on board 100%. Several days later, I started talking about it at our weekly Sunday lunch at our Granny’s house with my sister and sister-in-law. Sharing my dream of owning my own store, but also sharing how I want to give back to schools in our community, local organizations involving children, and different mission organizations.
So, here we are living the dream. We each have a different role in the store, but I love that I can work beside them through this journey. From our family to yours, we hope you find something adorable for your babies, but also find a little happy for you Mama!
